MAC New Duo Palettes Review

THEY ARE FINALLY HERE!!!

THEY LAUNCHED TODAY AND THEY SOLD OUT TODAY!

Which is kind of lame because MAC should know by now how many people have been waiting for this, like myself! I have struggled not buying the Z Palettes because I knew! I knew MAC would come out with something. Especially when they brought out the quad palettes…those little guys were just teasers (even though I hated them).

I Splurged! (not really) and bought 2 palettes! BUT! Only MAC Pro sells the 12x wells and 24x well, which sucks and now I will have to go back another day. Thankfully I have a MAC Pro in my area.

I believe I bought my palettes at 1pm and they were already selling out fast, I think they only had 30 left…ALREADY! They launched in the morning!

Poor planning asides, on to the nitty gritty! Since I purchased the Double Palette I will only be talking about it, I wont compare it to the single palettes because, well for obvious reasons, its different. Once the new Single Palette is in stock I will do a comparison review.

From a makeup artists point of view, I like it. Japonesque sells similar palettes and they will make a huge dent in your wallet, hence why I have always refrained from buying them. This is nice, you can store eyeshadows, blushes and/or cream products. You can purchase inserts or you don’t have to purchase inserts. I will be melting my lipsticks so I will need the 24 well inserts and I think its a fantastic idea that MAC finally catered to that.

So, enough about opinions lets look at the design:

Its sleek, sturdy and made from high grade plastic. No see through lid but it has a see through divider on the inside. The divider has a small opening where you can fit your fingernail in if you would like to open it. The divider also stays put, meaning if you put it to the right side and then turn it over, it doesn.t flap out. The divider also doubles as a mixing palette, great if you are melting cream products. The palettes are deep and maybe a little too deep to stick eyeshadows in. Since the palette is a lot deeper now you are now able to transfer mineral products from the MAC range (since those products are a lot larger in height). I’m noticing that I will probably need some sort of cushion to keep the eyeashadows from bouncing around while traveling. The palette also closes with a magnetic close and stays closed.

The palette is also a lot larger than the rest of the palette family, since it is doubled hence why its called the “double palette”…

I was slightly disappointed thought when I got home and opened them. The palettes inside were covered in dust,  and not just some specks here and there… you could swipe your finger and a good amount of grey grossness stated on your finger. Asides from that, I cant wait to use them while on the job!

Check your local MAC store for details, pricing and availability.

Off to depot more eyeshadows!

If you look closely at the photo, you can tell that the glue has melted the bottom part of the jewel and actually made it look better by being all “blurred out??”.
