How I Saved My Bleached Hair Part 1

Like the title says, this is what this post will be about.

Here is a little background story about my hair, just so that you guys get acquainted.

Since I was 16 I have had some sort of bleach in my hair. In 2011 I went into a salon to do my roots for highlights. I came out with Level 2 hair. I don’t know how you can confuse BLEACH and HAIR DYE, but that’s besides the point. Since that tragic day, I have been going in every 2 months getting new highlights put in to the point that eventually I could bleach out my roots and you couldn’t tell the difference.

All of this as you can imagine was VERY damaging. Since my last bleach out I decided I was going to make it a priority to make by hair as healthy as possible without dying it back to my natural color or chopping it all off.

Here are a few things and products I stuck to during this process:

First things first, I DID NOT BLOW DRY MY HAIR (unless I was going out and needed volume, but that was rare).

Second, I RARELY USED HEAT TOOLS (since I melted my GHD in Europe).

Thirdly, I BARELY WASHED MY HAIR.

Now that I have covered, onto the products:

Shampoo:

Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo, THIS WAS HEAVEN! I did shampoo my hair twice and it always made my hair feel soft while other shampoos can make bleached hair feel like straw.

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Color Save Silver Shampoo, was and is the best toning shampoo I have used. Clairol Highlights and Quantum Silver Shampoo were okay, but dyed my scalp and hands purple after a while. I will use this after every regular shampoo.

La Roche-Posay Physiological Shampoo, since my scalp over produces oil it causes it to flake most of the time (strange right?). I have used Psoriasis shampoos and they just havent done a good job. This was absolutely amazing! The first time I used this I didnt even need conditioner!!! This stuff is pretty pricey and can be hard to find, but soooo worth the money.

Conditioner:

Joico Moisture Recovery, I am on my SECOND gallon bottle. If i haven’t stolen it from my mothers shower I would have never known what great hair feels like. I swear by this and when I don’t use it I can really tell a difference.

Wella Brilliance for Fine/Normal Hair, this is a very strange product since I asked for a hair mask at the salon and after I got home, I realized it was just a conditioner. The instructions say to leave it on for 5 mins but my stylist said to keep it on for 20. I have slept in this stuff and it never made my hair feel soft and luxurious or even brilliant! as the packaging states! But then I realized what it did…it helped with breakage.

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque, sometime I use this instead of conditioner. Love it! Love it! Love it! but I hate it at the same time. It had Macadamia seed oil, and to all of us allergic to nuts…this is danger bay. I have never felt my hair be this soft and please stick to the instructions, no more than 7 minutes! Otherwise your hair will be more apt to become greasy, quicker!

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick Spray Conditioner, anyone who has used this knows that this stuff is good. So good that I am on my 5th bottle! So good I wont travel without it. So good that if I dont feel like conditioning my hair…Ill just use this! So good that I can keep on talking about it until the cows come home.

Biosilk Silk Therapy Cure, when my hair was at most worst this was my savior. It will be pricey is certain places but if you are patient and stalk Winners everyday you could probably find it for as little as $10! Now I use this after I flat iron my hair just to bring back some life into it. Also works great  on over processed hair extensions. But remember, too much of this stuff will weigh your hair down and make you greasy.

Tel Aviv Street Fashion

Recently I found myself wandering the streets Tel Aviv, Israel and thought to myself…this city really has a lot of similarities to California! So while people watching at a local café I decided to conjure up a post on how people on the streets look like. I mean, I can go into every little Israeli boutique and find some amazing clothing pieces and shoe designs, but actually seeing what people wear on the streets is whole different story.

Since it is usually close to 35/40 degrees in the city its wise to wear something light, flowey and minimal. Something that fits the criteria is the epic Hi Lo Skirt.

A slight gust of wind and you are the most fantastic person on the street.

For the more trendier bunch, high waisted shorts are a must.

Trips to the musuems and exhibitions are a lot easier in this.

Since Tel Aviv is right by the beach, is over 2000 years old and mostly covered in cobblestones. Beachy waves and flat sandals are a requirement. Makeup is minimal and nails are usually sporting a bright neon color or beige toned nails.

Now Im off to spot the most perfect shawarma in town!

Lehitraot!
